Question by Katie: Views on comprehensive VS abstinence only sex education?
What are your views on it? Personally, I am an 8th grader in a public school district that has a very good comprehensive sex education program that teaches us that abstinence is the only 100% effective method, but provides us with the facts on other methods.
So how do you feel ? Students? Parents? Teachers? General public?
What do you support? Why?
by "method" I mean birth control/STD prevention, just to clarify.

I believe that kids need to know all of the facts. Yes they should be taught, in a non-religious manner that obviously abstinence prevents them from acquiring any STD or becoming pregnant. But the fact of the matter is that kids ARE having sex and they need to know precautions to take -- condoms, condoms, condoms! They need to be taught about ALL methods of contraception, along with using a CONDOM!!
Abstinence only programs don't work. Just look at Sarah Palin's daughter -- the poster child for abstinence only. 20 years ago when I was in 8th grade health class I learned everything I needed to know. Kids today should learn the same.
